There are miles of trails in the area, but the most popular are the Chippewa National Forest and Itasca State Park. Another great spot to go is Shingobee Hills, once known as the Shingobee Winter Playground. It was one of the first downhill ski areas in the state, but today it’s a popular cross-country skiing and sledding area featuring six miles of looped trails.

There are a plethora of nearby trails, including several miles of groomed trails, open fields, forests and frozen lakes available for snowmobilers to explore. It all starts at the Heartland Trail, which is located just at the top of the driveway!
This beautiful frozen tundra during the winter is the perfect place for some ice fishing during. Scores of anglers brave the elements each season to cut a hole in the ice and try their hand at this unique winter sport. Leech Lake offers some of the best muskie and walleye fishing in the Midwest.
An ice rink is available at the Walker Community Center, just a few minutes from our resort.
